01 / Field note
There is a palpable sense of completion that arrives with the final moments of a coastal sunset, as the relentless heat of the afternoon yields to the cooling, salt-tinged breeze of the evening. Reviewing this particular frame from our June 2018 retreat to Destin, Florida, I am instantly transported back to the soothing texture of the sand beneath our beach blanket. This medium shot offers a more comprehensive view of our shared repose, illustrating the quiet comfort of simply existing in tandem against the vast, illuminated expanse of the Gulf. With the sun casting its final, brilliant amber rays across the horizon near the distant dunes, the photograph documents a profound sense of emotional and physical grounding. These beachside retrospectives remain essential components of our personal archive, serving as permanent reminders of the necessity of deliberate rest, and beautifully preserving a chapter defined by clear horizons, coastal air, and an enduring, quiet connection.
